Smart Girls Who Do Stupid Things

I didn’t realize until reading this that it’s not appropriate to say “New York Hipsters” anymore, as “Brooklyn Hipsters” are their own sub-culture. It’s probably a bad sign when the rest of your city doesn’t want to be associated with your entire borough, though I guess
a) this article is from a Chicagoan’s perspective and
b) Staten Island has been coping with such abuse since probably the dawn of time.
Apparently, there’s more inter-hipster conflict than I was aware of, if even major metropolitan cities have different breeds that don’t get along.
One final note: We should all be thankful that harem pants are not nearly as popular anywhere in the 50 states as they are in Europe.

I Get A lot of Flack for Being the Girl That Flutters Her Eyes

So I feel you, Aubrey. She was definitely the only good part of Funny People, which otherwise just dragged on, especially her scenes with Jason Schwartzman. Her dynamic with Andy (aka Bright from Everwood *swoon*) on Parks and Rec is great. Aubrey’s right behind Kat Dennings in the running for who gets to be my new best friend, followed closely by Alia Shawkat, with the list dominated by long-time favorite Lizzy Caplan. Become a funny brunette actor who is almost on the cusp of superstardom, and you too can be in the running!

(Just to recap, it’s:
1) Lizzy Caplan
2) Kat Dennings
3) Aubrey Plaza
4) Alia Shawkat
If you’d like to compete with one of these ladies, chances are you need a new name, because they all have really cool ones. I have high best friend name standards.)

“Of course, the ideal scenario for parenting is obviously two parents of a mature age. Parenting is one of the hardest jobs on earth. And, of course, many women dream of finding Prince Charming (with fatherly instincts), but for those who’ve not yet found their Bill O’Reilly, I’m just glad science has provided a few other options.”

On a more serious note:
“Women are realizing it more and more, knowing that they don’t have to settle with a man just to have that child. Love is love and family is what is around you and who is in your immediate sphere.”

I Totally Missed This

From the end of July, while I was galavanting about. What a cool cat.

Relatedly (to The View), I wonder how The Talk is going to pan out. I also wonder if whoever named this show realized that “the talk” means something totally different to a lot of uncomfortable adolescents.
